Natural Ways to Support Allergy Relief

Tired of relying on antihistamines just to get through allergy season? Looking for additional ways to support your body during allergy season?? These treatment options focus on supporting your body from the inside out, helping reduce inflammation, strengthen your immune system, and limit allergen exposure so you can feel better all season long.

Vitamins

There are a few vitamins you can add into your routine – or supplement through your meals – to boost your immune system during allergy season. Vitamins A, D and E are known to “be effective in the prevention or treatment of allergic diseases through the suppression of type 2 inflammation.”

Here are foods that are good sources of these vitamins:
– Vitamin A: Eggs, dairy products, spinach and kale, sweet potatoes
– Vitamin D: Fish, egg yolks, fortified milk, juice and yogurt
– Vitamin E: Almonds, peanuts, sunflower seeds, olive oil, avocado, mango

Make sure you’re getting enough of these vitamins to help lower overall inflammation – especially inflammation in the nasal passages, sinuses, and eyes that are commonly caused by allergies.

Nasal Rinses and Hydration

A saline nasal rinse is a great option for flushing allergens out of the nose before it reaches the sinuses and lungs. A bonus is that it can help clear the airways and make breathing during peak allergy season a little bit easier.

Staying hydrated is another natural tool that can fend off allergy symptoms. A recent blog explained how hydration can help keep mucus thin and moist, so that it’s easier to move through the sinuses, nose, throat and lungs – moving mucus and allergens out of the body. This can help reduce inflammation and pesky symptoms and supports your body’s immune system.

Adjusting Your Living Environment

Pollen can follow you inside and expose you to allergens even when you’re in the safety of your own home. There are a few ways you can adjust your living environment to reduce the influx of symptoms:

  • Keep your windows shut and run your AC instead
  • Use an air purifier
  • Use HEPA filters in your air purifiers, vacuum, and HVAC system
  • Vacuum often to pick up pollen
  • Take shoes off outside, and shower after being outside for extended periods of time

It’s important to give your body a break from allergens to reduce inflammation and near-constant symptoms.

Allergy Drop Treatment

What about an option that gets to the root of the issue? Allergy drops following The La Crosse Method™ Protocol are a great, natural way to fight back against allergies.

Allergy drops contain two ingredients: glycerin, and a custom-tailored dose of the allergens that cause your symptoms. After testing, exam, and history, your provider can determine your specific level of sensitivity, and suggest allergy drops that are custom to you.

The tiny amounts of allergens are slowly and safely increased over time so that the body learns to tolerate more of the allergens when exposed naturally. The goal is that after successful treatment, you no longer react to allergens and have reduced, or eliminated, symptoms.

Ready to treat the cause? Find a provider near you that offers testing and treatment.
